Types of Facial Implants
Here are some of the common facial implant surgeries that can be performed to improve your appearance:
- A chin implant can increase the size and projection of a chin not in proportion with the forehead and midface. An incision is placed under your chin or inside your lower lip, the implant inserted and sutures secure it to the bone.
- A cheek implant increases the projection of the cheekbones by adding volume to flat or recessed areas. The implant augments the cheekbone (malar) and/or underside area (submalar). An incision is placed high under the upper lip. Some implants are placed through eyelid incisions or the front part of the cheekbone depending on what is being done.
- A jaw implant enlarges the width of the lower third of your face to give it more definition and balance to the face. You can choose between a widening jaw-angle implant and a vertically lengthening jaw-angle implant. An incision is made behind the molars and under the large jaw muscle with the implant secured into place with sutures or small screws.
- A lip implant is soft and spongy designed to mimic the soft tissue feel of the lips. You can choose between different lengths and thicknesses for all kinds of facial aesthetics. An incision is placed inside the corners of the mouth.
- A nasal implant can elevate the bridge or dorsal line and improve tip projection. A paranasal implant is used to augment the base of the nose wrapping around the pyriform aperture of the nose. An incision can be crafted inside the mouth below the upper lip or inside the nose during rhinoplasty.
- An orbital rim or tear trough implant can improve the under eye hollows or infraorbital rim weakness. The implant is often positioned along the infraorbital rim to add projection and under eye fullness. An incision is placed through the lower eyelid.
- A temporal implant can help with temporal hollowing placed on top of the temporal muscle, which are available as standard, filling in the hollowing to the side of the eye, and extended, from the side of the eye up to the side of the forehead. An incision is placed in the temporal hairline.
