Why Do We Get Moles and Skin Tags?
As we age, it’s normal to notice moles and growths appearing on our face, especially around the eyes and on the eyelids. Moles are growths of skin tissue that appear noticeably darker than the surrounding skin, often due to a concentration of melanin in the surrounding skin cells. Most moles are harmless, but they can appear unsightly, and some may be cancerous. Skin tags are pieces of skin that form a sort of “stem” and grow off the surface of your skin. There is little understanding of why they to this, but they do not seem to be associated with any diseases or other conditions. Skin tags may be removed in order to improve your appearance and self-esteem.
