Dr. Kryshtalskyj’s scholarly work reflects his deep curiosity and dedication to advancing the field. He is the recipient of numerous academic and research awards, including grants from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), National Institute for Health Research (NIHR, United Kingdom), and the Calgary Eye Foundation.

    For his academic and global outreach work, Dr. Kryshtalskyj has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Secretariat Award; the Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medal by the Government of Alberta, Canada; the City of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40; and invited to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists' (United Kingdom) Future Leaders Forum.

     He has authored peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, and the American Journal of Ophthalmology, and has contributed to medical textbooks on surgical topics including orbital infections and thyroid eye disease.

    In addition to his clinical and academic accomplishments, Dr. Kryshtalskyj co-founded the Canadian Ophthalmological Society Foundation’s Eyes on Ukraine Initiative in 2022, supporting capacity in ophthalmic trauma care in war-torn Ukraine. He was invited to co-direct the COS’s inaugural Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Skills Transfer Course, and has served as a reviewer for the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Skills Transfer Lab program. He serves as a reviewer for numerous medical journals. His work has been featured in international media outlets, including The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, National Post, Global News, CTV News, MSN News, and on radio with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
