Main Line Refresh™ - Upper Facelift

The Main Line Refresh™ - Upper Facelift is a comprehensive facial rejuvenation procedure that softens the signs of aging with a combination of compatible cosmetic surgeries. It was developed by experienced oculo-facial cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kenneth Morgenstern as a way to help his patients receive a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Main Line Refresh™ - Upper Facelift combines five state-of-the-art facial rejuvenation procedures:

The use of an endoscope to lift the brow has unique advantages. It allows our experienced oculo-facial cosmetic surgeons to use very small incisions, which means less noticeable scars in a minimally invasive procedure overall. An upper and lower eyelid surgery requires only the smallest of well-concealed incisions to remove loose, sagging skin and extra fat in the eyelids.

This advanced lifting technique rejuvenates the appearance of the entire face by targeting problems affecting the upper third of the face and the area around the eyes. Your eyes and brow have a dramatic effect on the way people perceive your emotions and your youthful appearance. By eliminating sagging skin, wrinkles and fatty deposits from the forehead and around the eyes, our oculo-facial cosmetic surgeons can restore your confidence by reversing these hallmark signs of aging.

There are many benefits to getting a Main Line Refresh - Upper Facelift Philadelphia:

  • Can enhance your confidence and self-esteem
  • Comprehensive approach to the signs of facial aging
  • Erases the hooded, sagging appearance of the brow and eyelids that can cause you to appear angry, tired or unfriendly to other people
  • Forehead lift improvement
  • Refreshes the youthfulness of your face
  • Utilizes less invasive state of the art surgical techniques

Here are the procedures involved in an upper facelift Philadelphia:

An endoscopic brow lift is a cosmetic procedure that elevates the eyebrows and forehead to lift the sagging of the skin and decrease the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines between the brows.

An endoscopic brow lift can address issues that occur as we age, including wrinkle lines that can appear on the forehead and frown lines that make us look angry or tired.

Also known as an eyebrow or forehead lift, the procedure is a minimally invasive procedure with a series of small incisions hidden behind the hairline. Specialized equipment is utilized to gently release and elevate the brow tissue.

An upper eyelid surgery is a procedure that removes skin and adds or removes fat from the eyelids. Upper blepharoplasty surgery uses incisions to allow for removal of skin and fat.

The brow is elevated via a standard upper blepharoplasty eyelid incision in the upper eyelid crease. The forehead is released from below through this approach and suture fixated up via a short ½ inch incision behind the upper hairline.

Lower eyelid surgery is a cosmetic procedure that removes skin and fat to reduce lower eyelid wrinkles, fat bulges and skin redundancy improving the appearance of the lower eyelids.

An incision is usually made inside the lower eyelid or below the lashes in your eye's natural crease to remove excess fat, muscle and sagging skin.

Lower eyelid surgery can improve your vision by removing and tightening excess eyelid skin. As part of the aging process, droopy eyelids are one of the reasons why people have this type of surgery. It creates a less obstructed field of view and gives you a more alert and youthful appearance.

As part of a Philadelphia Upper Facelift, laser resurfacing is a procedure that uses a laser to improve the appearance of skin or take care of minor facial flaws like a scar by removing layers of skin. Laser resurfacing eliminates warts and wrinkles, improves skin laxity, decrease sun damage and age spots.

What laser resurfacing does is cut away skin to a point that is safe and deep enough to allow the skin cells located in the skin appendages to "resurface" your skin. The laser removes the top layers of your skin to reduce pigmentation issues, sun spots, fine wrinkles and superficial lesions. The texture of your skin will be lighter. You can also reduce the lines around your mouth.

The papillae is a layer of the skin where the skin cells go along a wavy structure. Deep laser resurfacing goes into the dermis, deeper than the papillae. The cells that are deeper than your hair follicles and other skin organs can “resurface” your skin. The new skin covers your flatter skin surface and develops a layer of collagen to make your skin uniform and smoother.

Is the Upper Facelift safe?

Facelift surgeries are performed every day and generally safe as long as the procedure is carried out by a qualified and experienced professional like Dr. Morgenstern. As with any surgery, there are possible side effects, including bad reaction to anesthesia, bleeding, bruising, damage to the facial nerves controlling muscles (usually temporary), hematoma, infection, numbness, scarring, skin necrosis and swelling.

How long does it take to recover from Main Line Refresh™ - Upper Facelift?

Following your upper facelift Philadelphia surgery, you may feel some discomfort and pain for which your surgeon can prescribe pain relief medication. You may get a drainage tube, which is removed a day or two after your surgery. If necessary, sutures are removed at the appropriate time.

Once you get home, you may need to elevate your head while sleeping. You can use cold compresses to minimize swelling, which can take up to a week to fade. Scarring heals over the first two weeks and should fade over time. Most brow lift procedures result in permanent scarring, though minimal. The majority of patients return to work and their usual routine 10 to 14 days after their surgery. It is best to avoid any strenuous activities for at least two weeks.

Is the Main Line Refresh™ - Upper Facelift permanent?

No, but the results can last for many years based on which procedures you decide to have done. Depending on how invasive the technique is, results can last more than 10 years. Less invasive techniques can yield more moderate results.

How much does Upper Facelift cost?

According to 2018 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of a facelift was $7,655, which does not include other related expenses such as anesthesia and operating room facilities.

During your initial consultation, you will get a chance to ask all of your questions about a Philadelphia upper facelift. Your surgeon will evaluate your current health, including pre-existing health conditions or risk factors. Other factors will be evaluated such as the elasticity of your skin in order to determine the best treatment for you.
