The purpose of a TCA peel is to improve the appearance and texture of the skin, to ward off aging, and to even out skin tone; however, a TCA peel can also have other positive impacts, particularly on hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne. To find out if you are a good candidate for this treatment, you must meet with our experienced oculoplastic and facial cosmetic surgeons in the greater Philadelphia area. A TCA peel has the active ingredient of trichloroacetic acid. This type of chemical peel can be superficial, medium or deep. At our practice, we provide a medium TCA peel to improve skin marred by:
- Pigment inconsistencies
- Ice Pick Scars
- Dilated Pores
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Age spots
How the Treatment Works
Your TCA peel will be applied by the physician at our Suite 202 medical spa, which features comfortable, relaxing furnishings and a calming, serene atmosphere. Depending on the goals you and your surgeon discuss, the peel may be applied to the problem areas
There is some downtime associated with this type of peel. A chemical peel works by sloughing away the outer layer of skin cells. Then your skin begins to heal, producing new collagen and a healthy, fresh glow. While your damaged, worn skin cells are being removed, your face may appear red, flakey and may otherwise look a little unsightly. This process may take a few days to several days, during which time you may choose to stay home from work or social activities.
