Dr. kenneth e. morgenstern

Dr. Kenneth E. Morgenstern is a Board Certified Surgeon, with sub-specialty training in Adult and Pediatric Oculoplastic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery.  He is one of a few surgeons to have gained certification by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Morgenstern is a native of Philadelphia and obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University.  He received his MD degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University, where he also trained in General Surgery.  There he was recognized as Intern of the Year and was awarded the distinguished Physician Humanitarian Award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society.  He went on to further training in Ophthalmology at West Virginia University where he served as the Chief Resident.  Dr. Morgenstern was then awarded a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at The Ohio State University.  He supplemented his training with subsequent fellowships in Facial Cosmetic Surgery and Pediatric Oculoplastic/Craniofacial Surgery.

Dr. Morgenstern served as an Oculoplastic and Facial Reconstructive Surgeon at the Medical College of Virginia.  He is now the Director of the Orbital and Oculoplastic Services at the Philadelphia Veterans Medical Center, where he teaches the fellows and residents of The University of Pennsylvania and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  He has authored over 20 articles and 5 book chapters and actively lectures both locally and nationally on both reconstructive and cosmetic topics.  He remains active in Plastic Surgery research and has patents pending for new therapies, which can be used to help make the lives of cancer patients treated with radioactive iodine better. He is also only one of two physicians ever in Pennsylvania to have been recognized for the international Marvin Quickert Award for excellence in research.
